Fabric Specifications for Stretch Sportswear
For Made to Order sportswear, the fabric specification records fiber composition, GSM, knit construction, stretch direction, color and finish.
Leggings, bike shorts and fitted sports bras are sampled in the intended production fabric because pattern dimensions are set against that fabric's stretch and recovery.
For leggings, opacity is checked on the fitted garment at the seat and upper thigh, where the fabric is stretched most.
If a garment uses more than one fabric, each material receives its own specification and BOM entry. A training top with a jersey body and mesh ventilation panels therefore lists the jersey and mesh separately.
Leggings: Pattern, Gusset and Side Pockets
No-front-seam leggings use a front pattern without a center-front crotch seam. On side-pocket leggings, the pocket is built into the side-panel pattern. A gusset is cut as a separate pattern piece.

For side-pocket leggings, the pattern fixes pocket opening width, pocket depth and placement before bulk cutting. If the waistband contains elastic, the BOM records the elastic width and cut length.
Sports Bras: Underband, Straps and Cup Construction
The sports bra pattern defines the underband, neckline, armhole, front body, back body and strap positions. Racerback and cross-back styles use different back and strap patterns. Cross-back straps are cut to their specified finished length and attached at fixed points.
For removable cups, the lining includes a cup pocket and insertion opening, and the cup is listed as a separate component. A lined sports bra has separate outer and lining pattern pieces.
If the underband or straps contain elastic, the trim specification records the elastic width and cut length.
Two-Layer Running Shorts: Shell and Liner
Two-layer running shorts use an outer shell and a separate inner liner. The shell and liner are sewn separately, then joined at the waistband.

The shell pattern sets the side-split height. For a drawcord waistband, the specification records waistband height, drawcord opening, cord length and cord finish.
Bike Shorts: Pattern, Gusset and Leg Opening
The pattern for bike shorts sets the waist, hip, rise, thigh, inseam and leg opening. A side pocket is built either as a separate pocket panel or into the side-panel construction. If the style uses a gusset, the gusset is included as a separate cut piece in the pattern set.
If the leg opening uses gripper tape or elastic, that trim is listed separately in the BOM.
Training Tops: Sleeves, Armholes and Mesh Panels
A set-in sleeve uses a body armhole and a separate sleeve-head pattern. A raglan sleeve runs from the underarm to the neckline, so the front, back and sleeve pieces are drafted to that seam line.
Sleeveless training tops need the armhole finish specified before bulk sewing. Mesh ventilation sections are cut as separate pattern pieces with fixed dimensions and seam positions.
Overlock, Coverstitch and Flatlock Seams
The sewing specification assigns the required stitch type to each seam.
- Overlock: joins stretch-knit panels and finishes the raw edges in the same operation.
- Coverstitch: finishes hems and selected stretch openings.
- Flatlock: creates a low-profile seam across joined panel edges.
The production sample is sewn in the selected fabric with the specified thread. Stretch seams are checked for skipped stitches, broken thread and seam separation before bulk sewing.
Waistbands: Folded Fabric, Elastic and Drawcords
The waistband on leggings is a separate pattern component with its own finished height and circumference. For a folded-fabric waistband, the pattern includes the full fabric depth needed to form the outer and inner faces.
For elastic waistbands, the BOM records elastic width and cut length. Running shorts with an enclosed drawcord require a cord channel and drawcord openings in the waistband pattern.
A hidden waistband pocket adds a separate opening and pocket bag to the waistband construction.
Pockets for Leggings and Running Shorts
A phone pocket on leggings is built into the pattern before cutting. The pattern fixes the pocket opening width, depth, position and panel seam.
A rear zip pocket on running shorts adds a zipper opening, zipper length and pocket bag. Internal key pockets are attached to the waistband or liner according to the sewing specification.
The sample is checked with a phone inside the pocket. If the phone moves excessively or pulls the panel out of shape, the opening or pocket dimensions are corrected before bulk cutting.
Print Artwork and Logo Placement
Fashionme currently offers screen printing and DTF, as well as flat embroidery and 3D puff embroidery.
The artwork file records the finished artwork size and garment placement. For a logo on leggings, placement is measured from fixed pattern points such as the waistband, side seam or leg opening.
A logo beside a pocket is positioned after the pocket seam is fixed. Artwork spanning two garment panels requires placement measurements for both pattern pieces. On a matching sports set, the top and bottom have separate placement specifications.
Embroidery Size, Thread and Placement
The embroidery specification records finished dimensions, thread colors, placement and embroidery type.
Dense embroidery stiffens stretch fabric in the stitched area, so the sample is sewn on the selected production fabric before bulk production. 3D puff embroidery requires artwork prepared for the raised stitch structure.
Size Grading by Garment Type
Fashionme's Made to Order service includes pattern development and size grading. The confirmed size chart is used to prepare the production pattern for each ordered size before bulk cutting.
For leggings, grading covers measurements such as waist, hip, rise, thigh and inseam. Sports bras use their own underband, body, neckline, armhole and strap measurements. Training tops and jackets use separate garment measurement charts.
Each style therefore has its own graded pattern set.

Made to Order is used when the project requires a new pattern for leggings, new sports bra construction, a liner, gusset, panel layout, waistband construction or specified performance fabric.
Final Inspection for Sportswear
Fashionme includes 100% final inspection for Made to Order production.
Leggings are checked against the production measurement sheet, including the waistband, gusset, panels and pockets. Sports bras are checked for underband measurements, strap placement, lining and cup construction. Two-layer running shorts are checked for shell-to-liner assembly, waistband and pockets.
Zippers are operated during inspection. Print and embroidery placement are checked against the production specification.
Stock Match uses sample-pull inspection as standard. Full inspection is available when every unit needs to be checked.
