Getting the proportions right: a vintage-inspired off-white zip hoodie

The Story

“Relaxed” left plenty to work out in the cut of a hoodie. Body length, dropped shoulders, hood shape and pocket placement all influenced how a roomy fit took on a defined boxy shape. Those relationships were at the center of development for this vintage-inspired off-white zip hoodie.

Turn a mood into reviewable details

The supplied reference called for a vintage-inspired look, a generous silhouette and graphic detail. Descriptions such as substantial, soft and worn-in expressed the intended feel and appearance. Specifying the pattern and finish involved decisions about the body’s length and how the hood sat, including with the zipper open. Pocket placement affected the balance of the front, and the graphic’s scale and finish determined how prominent the decoration would be.

Build the shape and decoration together

The workshop footage showed fabric preparation and cutting, red hood embroidery, chest-graphic work and the assembled hoodie. The full-length zipper divided the front into two panels. The graphic extended across these panels above the split kangaroo pockets, linking its placement to the pocket tops and the opening between them as part of the same front layout.

Judge the hoodie as a complete product

The finished-garment video showed the off-white body, dropped shoulders, red hood embroidery and multicolor chest artwork on a mannequin. With the hoodie hanging on the form, the body’s width and length were easier to judge alongside the hood shape and the positions of the pockets and artwork.

The capability is in the coordination

The development covered the hoodie’s silhouette, embroidered hood detail, front artwork, zipper and pockets. Fashionme coordinated these decisions across the workroom, from cutting the body panels to embroidery, printing and assembly. A brand could discuss the complete hoodie with Fashionme, including its proportions and decoration as they appeared with the zipper and pockets in place.
